HYDROPOWER – OLD RESOURCE, NEW OPPORTUNITY?
In recent years, hydropower has made significant contributions to the national energy production, but it has passed its peak and is now stabilizing to maintain its contribution to the country’s electricity supply.
After researching and studying the market, CRC has taken steps to invest in this sector. Since the market is already widely exploited and contains many large projects, launching new projects requires competitive strategies that can both meet local energy demands where the projects are located and ensure environmental factors and geological infrastructure are considered when setting up hydropower plants.

The Chiềng Ngàm Thượng Hydropower Project is a medium-sized hydropower project built on the Muội stream in the land of Bản Sẳng, Chiềng Ngàm commune, Thuận Châu district, Sơn La province. The Chiềng Ngàm Thượng Hydropower plant has an installed capacity of 10 MW with 2 turbines, and an annual electricity output of 41 KWh, ensuring power supply for over 10,000 households in Chiềng Ngàm commune and neighboring areas. CRC participates in this project with the aim of contributing to the electricity supply in the region, expanding its investment portfolio, and supporting the overall energy development for Sơn La province and the nation.

At the same time, fully aware of the negative impacts of hydropower on the environment and climate change, CRC is committed to working closely with local authorities to maximize the positive aspects that hydropower brings, such as providing energy and supporting flood control. CRC also strives to minimize the effects related to climate change and the geological impacts on the surrounding area.

We hope that with these new advancements in the investment sector, we will contribute even more to the overall economy of Sơn La province in particular, and the northern mountainous region in general.
